Barry Roberts has more than 30 years of experience in Information Technology and the Financial Service industry. Operating from hands-on through to Global Executive Management level, he possesses diverse experience in evaluating, designing, and ensuring the implementation of cost-effective solutions for the financial services industry while mitigating adverse risks. His qualities include strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. In addition, he is goal and results oriented and has a demonstrated ability to successfully envision, develop, manage, and execute complex strategic initiatives.

Experience that brings insight
In HITC Barry has been engaged in a number of roles and functions specifically:
Project Director IT Fitout. In this role Barry is responsible for the IT Fitout of a major building development on behalf a major financial services organisation. This includes network and telephony implementation, IT relocation for up to 3500 people.
Program Manager Data Centre Program. In this role Barry developed and managed the overall Data Centre strategy for a major financial services organisation. Components of this included leading market engagement for design, build and acquisition of a Tier III data centre, remediation of existing data centre’s including UPS & cooling infrastructure replacement, implementation and transition of services from existing data centres.
Program Manager Service Continuity. In this role Barry managed a team of project managers who developed and implemented a Service Continuity strategy for a major financial services organisation. This was achieved through Systems Development process changes, systems remediation, Service Continuity testing and ongoing process improvements to enable live testing and component testing.
Senior Project Manager for the implementation of recruitment Panels for HBOSA. In this role Barry was responsible for the development, negotiation and implementation of over 50 service agreements for recruitment of Permanent, Casual and IT Contractors. Project objectives of cost reduction, Service Improvement and Electronic time sheeting and payment systems were all achieved.
Prior to HITC, Barry worked for EDS as the Asia Pacific Director for Solutions development. In this role he managed an organisation of over one hundred Enterprise and Solutions Architects, Subject Matter Experts. The function of this organisation was to develop client specific solutions strategies (Infrastructure, Applications, Telecommunication and Business Process) including transition strategies and ongoing cost and efficiency plans. Engagements included West Australian Government, Western Mining, Rabobank, Standard Chartered Bank, Development Bank of Singapore, Fonterra, Australian Customs, Australian Taxation, Bank of Queensland, Victoria Road, AAPT, Westpac, MayBank.
Also during Barry’s time at EDS he undertook the following roles:
Service Delivery Executive: Accountable for the delivery of all CBA systems
Service Line General Manager: Accountable for all Data Centre Services to Commonwealth Bank. Role included not only delivery responsibility but also project and loss, product development.
Service Delivery Executive Colonial. Accountable for migration of Colonial IT (after Colonial was purchased by CBA) to EDS. This role was further complicated as it also required migration of Systems from 5 outsourced partners.
Account Manager Card Systems. Accountable for migration of Credit Card systems, implementation of Woolworths Banking system.
Account Manager E Commerce. Accountable for implementation of NetBank, Mobile Bank and PhoneBank systems.
Prior to EDS Barry work for the Commonwealth Bank IT Department, undertaking a number of roles during his time at the Bank including: Account Manager Business Banking (including CBFC), Research Analyst, Security Analyst, Operator.
